Well, I will admit that I'm disappointed but after giving it some thought, It might be for the best.
I had the honor of seeing Led Zeppelin in their prime in 1974 and it was amazing in every way. Unlike a guitar player, who can improve with age, any singer has a shelf life. That's not a put down, it's a fact. Robert Plant had that high, distinctive voice that gave the band their signature sound, and for that reason alone, it's fitting that Page said NO!
Why put yourself and your voice through the strain of trying to do what can't be done. Plant just can't physically get there anymore. Not his fault and he shouldn't be ashamed of it. The songs will either have to be in a different key or Plant would have to try and sing in a lower register and that's not his sound. As a fan, I want to remember them in their prime. I loved Robert Plant's solo stuff after Zep broke up. His stuff with Allison Krauss was another great chapter in his storied career. I would hate to see them try and tour just for the $ and it just not be what fans expected! My two cents....Keep The Memories Alive!
